Prince – His Intended Piracy Action Stopped

Well I couldn’t believe what I read this week about Prince, an artist who I have a lot of time for artistically. Sadly I think his non music guidance leaves something to be desired at times. The crux of it was that the artist, who previously gave away his studio album ‘Planet Earth‘ free in the Sunday Mail newspaper, decided to sue 22 people for posting live performances of his online. He’s well-known for trying to stop his music being heard other than from official sources. For me that’s a bit hypocritical, what do you think?

Thankfully, after issuing lawsuits totalling $22 million (works out $1m per person), which is way over the top of any possible value of the downloads, this has been withdrawn by his lawyers. Why because they had been removed from the internet, more will appear no doubt. Could this be a publicity stunt as the artist has a new album, ‘PlectrumElectrum‘ and tour on the horizon? As the saying goes any news is good publicity. Surely his music speaks for itself and with such a large fan base. Thankfully I concentrate on what is important – The Music!

So what do you think then ....
