Hidden Gems : Rain Tree Crow – Blackwater

Rain Tree Crow is in fact Japan reformed in 1990, why they decided to change their name is beyond me, suicidal commercial madness really. The bass line of the late Mick Karn was immaculate which really blended in well with David Sylvian’s vocals. This was far removed from the new romantic era they were originally pigeon-holed in. This piece of music is just sublime and is on par with ‘Ghosts‘ for creating an atmosphere. It did nothing but showed the world they could still issue a statement of intent.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
