Bitesize : HAIM – Days Are Gone

Touted as the best thing for 2013 HAIM had a lot to live up to, sadly in my books ‘Days Are Gone‘ hasn’t really displayed that. For me it’s nothing new and a few new artists have delivered similar product better. It maybe that they have tried too hard with the intricate keys used or the annoying stuttering vocal delivery that mar some of the tracks. Having seen them live too they really need to sit down and stop believing the hype and use some of their obvious talent. Yes I am sure the album will do well for artist and label alike but will it be remembered as a timeless classic, I very much doubt it. There are some gems within like the Fleetwood Mac inspired ‘If I Could Change Your Mind‘. The stand out track is the compelling  ‘Running If You Call My Name‘; great guitars and harmonies.  A good start but not exceptional. 5/10.
