When Albums Ruled The World

For me you weren’t grown up until you had an album in your collection when I was a lot  younger around 1973. Yes I had over 300 singles before I purchased my first album, ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’ by The Beatles. Why did I buy it, well an elder cousin had it and played it to me over and over again. Within a year I had Bowie, Queen, Beach Boys, Roxy and Slade long players. Even by the early 80’s my singles collection dwarfed it’s bigger cousins but that changed with the advent of the CD. By the end of the decade it had changed to almost three to one in favour of the album. Digital has come in and singles are few and far between. I still buy CD’s and the odd vinyl, nothing beats playing a black platter with its crackles and hisses. Enjoy this documentary.
