Today I’ve decided to mention the title song from the debut album which just happens to be the same name as the band, Icehouse. Though really the band is Iva Davies plus friends and musicians hailing from Australia. I actually only saw them live both in 1981 firstly as support to Hazel O’Connor then several times supporting Simple Minds in the Autumn. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed when they performed. Their debut album also had the tracks ‘We Can Get Together‘ and ‘Can’t Help Myself‘ singles well worth a listen too. Their follow-up album also included another awesome track was the opening track of ‘Primitive Man‘ called ‘Great Southern Land’, in fact I wasn’t sure to highlight this in preference, so I added the video below too. Of course people know them for the Roxyesque ‘Hey Little Girl‘, but for me they were better than just being labelled imitators.
So what do you think should these track have been hits then?
