Peel Sessions : Spiritualized

Born out of the remains of Rugby (where I resided for many years) band Spaceman 3, and led by Jason Pierce the band Spiritualized went from strength to strength. Far more accessible and I have to say melodic. Jason brought in various musicians to acquire the right sound and not just rely on endless looped notes. Having known him since 1983 and selling him some very interesting records from the past, I can see where his influences came from. I might add he was always open to new ideas too.  This music does seem a far cry from the set performed by Spaceman 3 at the Oakfield Club, where I was DJ for the night. I did record it but for some reason I can’t find where I put it, so that’s another historical document lost forever. At the band’s height they performed to a sell-out audience at the Royal Albert Hall, a show that was spectacular.
