How on earth do Coventry City Council afford to put this on yearly is beyond me. But they do and this years Godiva Free Festival is from Friday 5 July until Sunday 7 July. There’s plenty for the who family to do besides watching music with arts, crafts, comedy, dance and a fair to keep us all occupied. Set near the centre of the city it’s well marshalled and access in and out is well maintained. You don’t even need to book a ticket, just stroll through the entrances. This years main acts include on Friday, Echo And The Bunnymen along with Ghostpoet. Whilst on Saturday with an extended line-up we have Maximo Park, The View, Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene) and Reverend And The Makers. Being as this was the home of Two Tone in the Rhythm Tent you will find Neville Staples (Specials) and his band along with Lee Thompson (Madness) with his Ska Orchestra. Finally on Sunday the festival concludes with Amelia Lily and The Risk. So if you have that weekend spare or even just one day it’s worth a trip to this fantastic event. Come along as it’s all for good causes too.
