New Order – Power Corruption And Lies – 30 Years Ago Today

It was thirty years ago today that four people from Manchester released possibly the most musically iconic flower arrangement ever. Coincidently this was another of Peter Saville’s splendid pieces of artwork. This was New Order’s second instalment which followed straight after the ground breaking ‘Blue Monday‘, which wasn’t on the album. In fact not for a long time did the band actually include singles on their long players. ‘Power Corruption and Lies‘ did contain some of the best music they’ve ever written in my honest opinion. These included ‘Age Of Consent’, ‘The Village’ and ‘Your Silent Face’. This was the album the legacy of Ian Curtis was finally lifted from them.
