Peel Sessions : A Flock Of Seagulls

This Peel session brought me to the attention of the song ‘I Ran‘ by the band A Flock Of Seagulls. It was longer than the average three-minute synth based songs of the time. I wasn’t aware of the strange hairstyles the band had or their love affair of everything to do with UFO’s. But this Liverpool band did break into the American market big time, in fact they did better there than here. Only ‘Wishing (I Had A Photograph Of You‘ really dented our charts. The session had something about it that sadly the Jive Records versions lacked. Apparently their name derived from The Stranglers song ‘Toiler On The Sea‘.

6 May 1981 – Talking (It’s Not Me Talking) – Messages From The Rings Of Saturn – I Ran – Committed Hopefully someone will post their two Kid Jenson sessions on the net too!

Many thanks to the uploader.
