Hidden Gems : The Weather Prophets – Almost Prayed

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

With the demise of The Loft, lead singer Peter Astor got together his new band The Weather Prophets who were signed to the wonderful Creation Records label. Labelled with the C86 brigade they produced some awe-inspiring material for their brief time with us. I’ve chosen their debut single which reminds me of Burberries a small but vibrant venue in Birmingham back in the mid 80’s where I also saw Primal Scream, PWEI, Mighty Mighty and The Mighty Lemon Drops to name a few. There I’d meet up with some cool guys from the area including Barry who ran the record stall at the Oasis market. Would love to get in touch with him as no matter where I’d go to a gig around the country I’d bump into him. For other cool tracks by them check out ‘Why Does The Rain‘ and ‘Always The Light‘.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
