Hidden Gems : Marcel King – Reach For Love

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

If you could mix Motown vocal delivery with Factory Records sound, you’d end up with the late Marcel King, who actually released this song on that label. A great soul voice with a backing that resembled the then current sound of his label mates. Where did he come from? Well he was a member of Sweet Sensation (a band who won a TV talent show back in the 70’s called ‘New Faces‘ – ‘Sad Sweet Dreamer‘ reached number One for them). The single also featured the talents of Bernard Sumner and Donald Johnson from fellow label bands. Get those feet moving – for me it’s a lost cause I’ve been told!

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
