Hidden Gems : Gene Loves Jezebel – Motion Of Love

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Welsh band Gene Loves Jezebel fronted by brothers Jay and Michael Aston released some great songs. They were also rans here in the UK, but did pick up alot of airplay on college radio in the US. Songs like ‘Desire‘, ‘Bruises‘, ‘The Sweetest Thing‘ and ‘Heartache‘ were sadly mainly overlooked gems. Quite flamboyant the were an excellent live act whom I did manage to see alot of times. this included the last ever gig at the London Lyceum Theatre on 3 May 1985 when it reverted back to doing shows instead. Their albums can all still be found so maybe have a listen. You couldn’t fault their label Beggars Banquet as with most releases they yielded various mixes and formats, the public just didn’t get them!

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
