Hidden Gems : Magazine – A Song From Under The Floorboards

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Well after watching Punk Britannia, I thought I would highlight a band whom never really troubled the charts but influenced many acts. Magazine were fronted by Howard Devoto and they released a whole succession of near hits that included ‘The Light Pours Out Of Me‘, ‘Definitive Gaze‘, ‘Sweetheart Contract‘ and ‘Upside Down‘. You maybe aware they have reformed recently and are writing and performing again. It is still beyond me why they were not huge after their first single ‘Shot By Both Sides‘ did enter the Top 40 chart. They will always be one of my favourite bands.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
