Hidden Gems : Pete Shelley – On Your Own

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Well today I thought I would highlight the solo works of Buzzcocks lead singer, Pete Shelley. Initially Pete worked with the late Martin Rushent to produce a series of excellent songs like ‘Homosapien‘, ‘Telephone Operator‘ and ‘Many Time‘. He used alot of electronics which was a far cry from his band’s output but still had those subtle lyrics. There is talk of some possible solo shows with him performing tracks from this period. Lets hope so Pete! Having spoken to many people I know this will be well received.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?

Pete Shelley is a f**king genius! Doesn’t matter if it’s guitars, electronics, or both… the brilliant lyrics and melodies are always there. Please please PLEASE bring a solo tour to the US!!!! ❤
