Hidden Gems : The Rose Of Avalanche – Velveteen

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Today I have chosen the excellent Leeds band The Rose Of Avalanche, whom I saw a fair few times supporting anyone who would have them, including The Mission, The Cult and Gene Loves Jezebel. Often likened to The Sisters Of Mercy meets Lou Reed and labelled with the ‘Gothic tag’. Apt really I decided on this band being as tomorrow is ‘World Goth Day‘, whatever that maybe. They did actually write some very inspiring music with subtle melodies as heard in ‘L.A. Rain‘ and ‘Always There‘. They did seem to disappear off the radar even though they had a succession of Indie Chart hits.

So Should This Have Been A Hit Or A Miss?
