Hidden Gems : The Mekons – Ghosts Of American Astronauts

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Today was actually inspired by an on-line conversation with the wonderful Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice) fame whom did a ‘Top Ten Sonic Tracks‘, well worth a read by the way on the Bowers and Wilkins website. There he listed today’s band The Mekons, and I got around to show him today’s track which he enjoyed. The band is from Leeds, never far from controversy but at the same time have been a very influential indie band. They seemed to have been with us since the dawn of time, okay it was the late 70’s to be exact. A good starting point is the compilation album ‘Heaven and Hell‘.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
