Hidden Gems : George Kranz – Din Daa Daa

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

Today I thought I’d change tact and highlight a great 1984 dance record by George Kranz. I first heard it at the Friday alternative night at the Dog And Trumpet in Coventry. This unique record went down a storm as it used percussion primarily and the repetitive vocal sounds rather than words. Basically there was simply nothing like it about at the time. The track did well on the dance charts but didn’t really breakthrough into the mainstream scene. There’s a stunning live version too you watch. Sometime you just have to say that’s brilliant. So if someone who’s commissioning a TV commercial reads this – use it today it’s so catchy!

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
