Hidden Gems : Wasted Youth – Rebecca’s Room

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

This band I absolutely loved when they were going full of energy and driving beats. Always a band who had cult status.. Wasted Youth hailed from London and had a three-year life. Along with the likes of Bauhaus they were acknowledged as one of the bands which influenced the gothic band scene. They released some real gems besides ‘Rebecca’s Room‘ including ‘Jealousy‘ and ‘I Remember You‘. As it seems an everyday announcement I have to inform you that their bass player Darren Murphy died after a battle with cancer. Unlike the other songs I’ve highlighted this doesn’t have a video that I could find but it’s worth hearing if just for the bass-line. Incidently they do have a DVD available. Somebody remarked to me also there’s a slight Tubeway Army edge to this song. Not to be confused with an American band of the same name.

So should this have been a hit or a miss?
