With the 2011 final coming up this Saturday from Wembley Arena it seems very odd that the online side of HMV has inside information on the winner already. Yes you can now order the single by Amelia Lily from their site – stating ‘2011 X Factor Winner single‘. Seems Christmas has come early for the girl who got back in the show via the back door.
If this is all true then surely it’s time to call an end to these shows. I do believe they should publish the phone votes – verified by BT. This then got me thinking about the BBC’s Sound of 2012 which has just been published. Are things like this contrived too. Surely the public don’t need steering to what to listen to next year. Seems just another advertising vehicle for the record labels. If the music is strong enough and gets fair airplay (another bone of contention) then people will buy the product. It’s a shame as she actually has a great voice and had a good chance actually win it fairly. What do you think?
Stop Press – HMV have removed the single with a catalogue number already – still damage done! They state it was a mistake – all three finalists should have been on website at same time – do they think we’re all stupid!
