Hidden Gems : Terry Blair Anouchka – Ultra Modern Nursery Rhyme

Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.

After the demise of Terry Hall’s third band The Colourfield, he released an album under the name of Terry, Blair And Anouchka which spawned this sing along title track ‘Ultra Modern Nursery Rhyme‘. The deadpan vocals of Terry blended well with the upbeat vocals of his female compatriots. “Everything is groovy” so the songs says – it did say it to me. As this came out at the beginning of the rise of acid house music it somehow got very lost in the lower reaches of the charts. This was his first band not to have a chart hit all the more surprising with such singles as ‘Missing‘. So if you have a chance go buy this album.

So should it have been a hit or a miss?
