Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.
In light of my previous post on the excellent new album by Kate Bush, I remembered this track ‘Melt The Snow’. You get my drift (no pun intended) with a theme of snow I thought I’d post this hardly heard single by Virginia Astley. Like Kate she’s English, reclusive has a unique voice and around the same age; she’s the daughter of the composer Edwin Astley. There isn’t to my knowledge any videos out there of her work which is a shame as her music would lend well to some film makers – even now! If you liked this song check out ‘Love Is A Lonely Place To Be‘, ‘Darkness Has Reached It’s End‘ and the duet with David Sylvian ‘Some Small Hope‘. Virginia’s music has become very scare so if you see some available best buy today.
So should it have been a hit or a miss?
I’ve added a second song more an instrumental pre-dating Kate Bush’s album ‘Sensual World‘ – with the song ‘A Summer Long Since Passed’
