Continuing this very popular viewed series of Hidden Gems (tracks which should have been hits). I’ll present you a track via YouTube, Daily Motion, Soundcloud or another site. These posts are for the music only.
Hailing from Sheffield Cabaret Voltaire always seemed to allude the big time but were courted by Virgin Records and then E.M.I. This was far more commercial than their earlier material released on Rough Trade and Factory independent labels. It was let loose on the public at a time when indie dance records were carving up the charts with the likes of New Order and M/A/R/R/S. This would surely follow suit, but for some reason it didn’t. But it’s still even today relevant and fresh. I’ve always thought the guy (non band member that is) in the video was rather scary so for the pretext I’ve posted the extended version.
So should it have been a hit or a miss?
