There are many remixer’s doing their own thing now on the net – many very good indeed. My personal favourite is Mark Vidler (Go Home Productions), whom I’ve been following for close on 10 years if memory serves me well.
Check out his site full of many links to download his wares, either it be an audio link or more recently video link. He’s never rested on his laurels always trying to mash-up the most unlikely pieces together. He’s even done remixes for many artists for commercial release too, with EMI records releasing back in 2007 an album titled ‘Mashed‘.
The BBC did a spot on him in their computer online show ‘Click‘, well worth a watch. Chris Moyles even played a few of his mash-ups on BBC Radio One. The most notable being the Cadbury’s ‘Fudge‘ advert vocal ‘… a finger of fudge’ with the Beach Boys track ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice ‘. Never in a month of Sunday’s would I have even envisaged such a mix, but it worked – very well indeed.
He’s not been so active on his website of late, but I’m sure that’s more to do with the fact he’s got alot more work since his brush with Auntie Beeb. Even Channel 5’s ‘Gadget Show‘ has seen the light too by giving him some good exposure in the summer. More importantly now he’s making money for his efforts, advertisers have now jumped on the bandwagon to employ his skills.
