Sven-Göran Eriksson – sacked! Well it’s been on the cards for a while, the club has spent alot of money but the performances haven’t been that good. The new Thai owners made it clear they wanted promotion, obviously they can’t see it with Sven, they did the same last season with Paulo Sousa.
The speculation is already rife whom will replace him. I do hope it’s not Martin O’Neill as I can remember another club’s folk hero, Howard Kendall at Everton, who returned and then got sacked. We need a manager who has a plan ‘B’ and someone with some passion, I’ve never seen these from the Swede. His ploy was to substitute like for like and wouldn’t throw caution to the wind. Whom I’d replace him with I can’t say but they need to be a proven Championship manager who knows how to get out of this division. The bookmakers now will compile a list of all the usual suspects.
During the summer eleven players were brought to the club, many probably came because of the manager, so will they also want to leave? Time will tell. But as any fan will know, nobody is bigger than the club. What’s more immediate we have two very tricky games next, West Ham United and Leeds United.

Interesting post and seems fair enough. Think Sven has been treated harshly at times but without results there’s no defence this time. Waiting to see where the geezer pops up next…
Official Statement
Bad decision. No promotion this year. How many games was Sven afforded? Whoever comes in has a tricky job with SVEN’S assembled squad… Curbishley? Mark Hughes? Steve McClaren? Roy Keane was an interesting name thrown up, track record with Sunderland.
I’ve heard you could also put Raffa Benitez the hat too. Roy Keane is an interesting one as is Mark Hughes, both are passionate (maybe too much).
